Symbioun offers a wide variety of eLearning consulting services that addresses challenges faced by our customers at stages in the eLearning implementation lifecycle that includes pre-LMS implementation, LMS Selection and implementation, and post-LMS implementation stages. Our consulting services are spearheaded by industry veterans - Allen Dunkle and Dr. Joe Knight.  

  • Learning Strategy Definition

  • Learning strategy services is designed to help companies that are planning to implement eLearning tools identify a roadmap for accomplishing the learning objectives. This service is typically a 30 to 60 day exercise that will involve Symbioun's consultants working with the customer to identify the current state of learning, identify business and learning objectives, resource requirements and challenges in accomplishing the learning objectives, and recommend a plan for moving forward. Learning strategy services quips our customers with two important decision making tools - ROI Calculator for modeling the return on learning initiatives and the Learning Roadmap for layout out the sequence of activities that needs to be accomplished for meeting the learning objectives.

  • ROI Model

  • This service can be offered as a part of learning strategy definition or can be provided as a stand-alone service. The ROI Model is designed to help customers analyze the variables that impacts the return from learning initiatives. The ROI Modeling service is very useful in cases where there is a need to provide a objective justification or business case for LMS implementation, or for implementing any other learning initiative within the organization.

  • Pre-Implementation Risk Analysis

  • Symbioun can work with customers embarking on a major eLearning software implementation to proactively identify all the major risk factors during such implementation and identify best practices / recommendations to address risks. Specifically, risks around governance, change management, support, communication, and content strategies are evaluated thoroughly.

  • Learning Value Analysis (LVA)

  • The Learning Value Analysis is a diagnostic tool to help customers, who already have an LMS, identify ways to get greater value from the LMS. LVA is typically suited for customers that have an LMS running but have or going through internal changes such as changes in roles, personnel, strategies, organization structure, product lines, to name a few. LVA provides an outside objective view of several key areas to help the customer identify areas of focus for new initiatives.

  • Front-End Analysis (FEA)

  • Customers facing a variety of challenges associated with learning infrastructure product implementation (assessment, performance management, LMS, LCMS) or courseware development. At the conclusion of the FEA, one or more alternative solutions are developed for the customer with an analysis of the pros, cons, risks, costs, and tasks required to validate the solution. FEA is a pre-cursor to the next phase of work which is typically a Detailed Solution Design and/or Prototype phase depending on the situation.FEA is structured such that all subsequent work can be conducted by the customer, Symbioun, or another vendor.

  • Competency Development & Assessment

  • Symbioun can assist customers in the design, development, implementation, and evaluation of a competency management system. This service addresses three areas, namely

    Competency and Skills Management

    Deals with the hierarchy of competencies in an organization, from core competencies to team and individual behavioral competencies. This includes the process to develop and manage the knowledge, skills and attitudes that are the key elements of competencies.

    Organizational Performance Analysis

    Addresses business issues by determining inhibitors and facilitators to human performance in an organization, as well as recommending prescribed interventions to improve that performance.

    Learning Interventions

    Aligns prescribed learning interventions through a variety of modalities, as well as designing and developing systems that assist individuals to improve on-the-job performance.

    Allen Dunkle
    President Crystal Caliper Education Solutions, LLC

    Formally the Vice President of Professional Services at GeoLearning under the Direction of Frank Russell, Allen’s career in training leadership has been focused on improving and optimizing all aspects of a training organization. During this span he has developed expertise in all facets of education and learning. HIs expertise includes all aspects of ILT, VILT, OLT (from “page turners” to high end simulations), courseware conversions, courseware delivery, learning and organizational consulting, complete technical and implementation consulting, translations, and information design, development, and delivery.

    Allen has over 14 years experience designing, developing, and leading Information Development, Professional Services, and Learning organizations. While working for companies such as GeoLearning, Oracle/PeopleSoft, Lucent, Accenture, and Kenan Systems (now Comverse), Allen has developed a winning track record of delighting his clients while running organizations at their peak efficiency.

    With a Masters in Adult Education and skilled in Six Sigma, Project Management, assessment/evaluation, competency management, change management, and process engineering, Allen has successfully created and implemented highly effective solutions for companies as diverse as Trizetto, GE Consumer Finance, Department of Education, Avaya, and Bharti Telecom.

    Dr. Joe Knight PhD
    Senior Learning and Performance Architect

    Joe Knight has 20 years experience in delivering successful learning solutions to corporate clients. Dr. Knight has solved a wide variety of performance issues demonstrating proficiency in all areas of training. His work background includes sales training, project management, strategic planning, financial analysis, and the design, development, delivery, and evaluation of training projects using all types of media.

    Prior work experience for major telecommunications, pharmaceutical, government, software, cable, and manufacturing companies has required creative solutions for numerous types of performance problems. He has designed performance solutions including facilitator-led training, web-based training, self-paced independent study, video-based instruction and blended media. As a leader in the field of instructional design, Dr. Knight has managed a workforce from design to successful delivery and evaluation for many training projects.

    Joe’s career includes electrical engineering, financial planning, information systems management, and university teaching and is a seasoned performance professional. His education encompasses an undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Dayton, an MBA with emphasis in Finance and Accounting from Regis University, a master’s in Computer Information Systems from the University of Denver, and a Ph.D. in Educational Technology from the University of Northern Colorado. Dr. Knight is actively involved with the American Society of Training and Development and the International Society for Performance Improvement. He has presented papers on various aspects of instructional design both in the U.S. and internationally. He is currently on the ASTD advisory committee for the BEST Awards annual selection and is an adjunct faculty and on the advisory board for the graduate Training & Development program at the University of Denver.
